Thousands of gallons of Red Bull spill on highway after Interstate 95 crash in Florida

ROCKLEDGE, Fla., July 8 (UPI) -- A Red Bull truck that was hauling more than 30,000 pounds of the popular energy drink through Florida was involved in a crash on Interstate 95 on Monday evening near Rockledge.

During the crash, the driver of the Red Bull truck attempted to avoid a disabled truck on the shoulder of the road. The vehicles collided and the trailer on the Red Bull truck was torn open, dumping almost 3,000 gallons of energy drink onto the road.

No one was injured, but the driver of the truck, 43-year-old Jesus Fernandez, was ticketed for failure to maintain a single lane.

"In 20 years I have seen a lot of stuff spilled on the interstate," Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes told the Orlando Sentinel. "This is a first for me -- energy drinks. Usually it is some type of food."

All of the lanes on the highway were reopened around 9:30 p.m.
