According to Drummond, police grabbed one of the tenants, "put their hands in his pocket, retrieved keys for the gate and the property, and entered the apartment," Courthouse News reported.
Police accused Drummond of squatting, arrested him and brought his dog to the pound. Believing that the canine was a stray, a pound employee neutered the animal.
"The plaintiff did not wish to neuter his dog," the lawsuit states. "As a result of the forgoing, plaintiff's dog (personal property) was injured and damaged when his dog was neutered without the plaintiff's consent."
In addition to taking his dog, Drummond also alleges that officers took televisions, video game consoles, cellphones and cash.
The suit is seeking $2 million for civil rights violations.
