Waffle House calls for boycott of Belgian waffles before U.S. World Cup match versus Belgium

"We support America. We don't support Belgian waffles," says company rep.

NORCROSS , Ga., June 30 (UPI) -- Waffle House is telling soccer fans to ditch the syrup, sugar and strawberries and lay off of Belgian waffles in support of Team USA before the team's World Cup match against Belgium.

The U.S. will kickoff against Belgium in the final match of the second round of the World Cup in Brazil on Tuesday. The winner will advance and the loser will be heading home.

The all-American chain has never sold the popular Belgian breakfast item.

"We support a boycott on Belgian waffles," a Waffle House rep told TMZ. "We support America. We don't support Belgian waffles."
