NORMANDY, France, June 6 (UPI) -- A World War II veteran didn't let a ban from his nursing home stop him from storming the beach at Normandy once again.
An 89-year-old ma was told that he wasn't allowed to attend the Normandy commemoration ceremony in France, so he snuck out and went anyway.
The elderly veteran was reported missing on Thursday evening, but another unnamed veteran called the home and said that they were both alive and well at an Ouistreham hotel.

— Nev Kemp (@ChSuptNevKemp) June 6, 2014"We have spoken to the veteran who called the home today and are satisfied that the pensioner is fine and that his friends are going to ensure he gets back to Hove safely over the next couple of days after the D-Day celebrations finish," a Sussex Police spokesman told the BBC. "Once the pensioner is home we will go and have a chat with him to check he is OK."
