SANTA BARBARA, Calif., June 4 (UPI) -- Seniors at a California high school decided to make their principal face the music as part of a senior prank on Tuesday.

The principal of Santa Barbara High School, John Becchio, was greeted by a four-member mariachi band when he arrived in his office and the group followed him around while he went about his business.

Although the prank only lasted for an hour, it lives on in perpetuity thanks to the Internet.

"When Santa Barbara High Principal John Becchio walked into his office at 7:30 this morning, imagine his surprise when he opened the door and four mariachis were in his office," the district said in a statement on Tuesday. "It was a senior prank that delighted students and staff."

The last day of school at Santa Barbara High School is June 5.
