Alvin Wilson was working in his yard when he saw the alleged attack outside Andrews Elementary School on Monday morning.

Wilson, 50, observed the victim being stabbed by the suspect and intervened with his stick.

"I saw him holding the knife still trying to stab the lady so I kicked it away," Wilson told KXAN. "I'm just glad I was out here...because he would have killed her I think."

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Wilson holding the suspect down with the super stick. "They told me good job," Wilson told KTBC.

The woman was taken to University Medical Brackenridge with potentially life-threatening injures and the man was taken into custody.

"I'm not a hero, I'm just helping that lady," Wilson said. "I hope anyone else would do the same thing."
