BAKERSFIELD, Calif., May 21 (UPI) -- Tara defied the stereotypical indifference of her species and saved a 4-year-old boy from a vicious dog attack in Bakersfield, Calif., earlier this month. The whole thing was caught on video, making Tara an national hero.
As part of her new duties as a celebrated American, Tara was asked to "throw" out the first pitch at a minor league baseball game in Bakersfield on Tuesday, with a little help from her owners, the Triantafilos.
Roger Triantafilo held Tara in his arms as she casually swatted the ball to the ground. After several unsuccessful attempts, 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo threw out a real first pitch.
So how's Tara's life these days? Like most celebrity cats, she's got her own Facebook page and Twitter account.
Well, I gave it my best shot, but my humans really got in the way. Everyone knows I'm left pawed.
