Colin Andersen was at the Imagination Station playground in Brighton when his friend got a ticket for skateboarding. Advertisement Anderson said, "This is [expletive] [expletive]" and received a ticket of his own. The 19-year-old claims that he muttered the cuss words to himself, a claim Brighton Police Chief Tom Wightman disputes. "That would require an officer with some incredible hearing," Wightman told the Daily Press & Argus when asked if Andersen muttered the swear words "under his breath." When Andersen went to Livingston County District Court to fight the ticket, he lost and was fined $200. "I don't think I deserve this ticket," Andersen said. "I don't think I did anything wrong." Wightman disagrees. "The Brighton Police Department is particularly committed to the protection of young children who are attempting to enjoy our wonderful downtown park and playground," he said. "Older teens and young adults who choose to 'hang out' near the children's area need to know that their conduct will be carefully scrutinized."
