Passengers in France were exposed to a rather grisly scene when a train from Paris pulled up to a station with a crushed body on the nose of the locomotive.

The man was identified as a 48-year-old cyclist from the northeastern region of France who was on his bike when the train struck him. Investigators suspect that he was hit by the train as it was passing through a village on its way to Paris. They were unable to determine whether it was an accident or suicide.

A spokesman for the SNCF, France's national railway, said that due to the train reaching speeds near 200 mph, the kinetic force of the train is great enough that the incident could have gone unnoticed. Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
