A woman found mummified in the garage of her foreclosed home and believed to have died in 2008 somehow voted in the 2010 midterm elections, according to records.

Police are investigating the death of a woman suspected to be 49-year-old Pia Farrenkopf, a German immigrant, as a homicide. Authorities are trying to match her DNA to that of her sister and obtain dental records to positively identify her remains.

Aside from the possible homicide, there may have been a case of voter fraud as voting records show that Farrenkopf voted for the first time in the 2010 midterm elections. Farrenkopf registered to vote in 2006 but apparently did not vote until 2010. The record could have been the result of a clerical error, but given the suspicion of homicide police are investigating possible voter fraud.

Thought Farrenkopf is suspected to have died in 2008, her body wasn't found until last week. Neighbors, who mowed her lawn occasionally, said she kept to herself and thought she had returned to Germany. Her bills were paid automatically until her account dried up in 2013. The home went into foreclosure, which eventually led to her body being discovered in the back seat of a Jeep Liberty in the garage.
