'Flappy Bird' creator says game might return to mobile platforms

HANOI, Vietnam, March 12 (UPI) -- The Vietnamese creator of mobile gaming sensation "Flappy Bird" said the popular saga of a bird flying between pipes might make a comeback.

Dong Nguyen, 28, who removed "Flappy Bird" from app stores at the beginning of February because it had "become an addictive product," told Rolling Stone magazine he is considering releasing a new version of the game with a "warning" encouraging players to take frequent breaks.

Nguyen said the success of "Flappy Bird," which was earning him an estimated $50,000 per day before he removed it from the app stores, has allowed him to quit his job and focus on creating games full time.

He said the games he is currently designing include a cowboy-themed shooting game, a flying game called "Kitty Jetpack" and an "action chess game" dubbed "Checkonaut." He said one of the games will be released on mobile platforms later this month.
