BOLZANO, Italy, March 11 (UPI) -- The leader of an Italian political party said officials are looking into allegations that expense claims were filed on behalf of the party for sex toys.
Italian finance police investigating the accounts of political parties on the Bolzano provincial council said they discovered a receipt from the secessionist Freiheitlichen caucus indicating a $90 expense claim was filed for a vibrator and two other sex toys, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Tuesday.
Pius Leitner, leader of the right-wing party, said officials are investigating the matter.
"We need to look into the matter, if it's true, it is not right," Leitner said.
Authorities began investigating provincial party accounts in January following a complaint of abuse from a member of the council.
