MILAN, Italy, March 7 (UPI) -- An Italian traffic police officer is under house arrest on accusations of slashing a woman's tires and flipping her the bird, prosecutors said.

The alleged victim told authorities the Milan officer had repeatedly harassed her for parking her car in a school zone while she waited for her daughter to be released from the elementary school, the ANSA news agency reported Friday.

The woman told investigators the officer had flipped her off and on one occasion he rode a bicycle and chased after her car when she picked her daughter up from school. The woman said she pulled over in a mechanic's parking lot after losing her pursuer and reported the officer to his superiors.

Prosecutors said the woman told police the tires of her car were slashed the following morning.

The officer was placed under house arrest Friday while the investigation continues, prosecutors said. They said the alleged abusive behavior goes back as far as 2011.
