BRONX, N.Y., March 7 (UPI) -- A 75-year-old Bronx woman didn’t use family members’ birthdays to pick her winning Powerball numbers -- she used a fortune cookie.

Emma Duvoll thought that the numbers in the cookie that accompanied the Chinese food her son brought back from Manhattan “looked attractive so we played them.”

The good-looking numbers helped propel her to a $2 million Powerball win.

“I used to play other numbers and I never won anything so these looked just as good as any other,” Duvoll said. “I was surprised, but pleased.”

Five of her numbers -- 5, 12, 15, 27 and 38 -- matched the winning Powerball drawing on Feb 1. She missed out on the Powerball number (it was a 7).

Duvoll will end up with a lump sum payment of $1,246,085 after taxes.

"I took some time contemplating what I will do with the money," Duvall said. "I plan to invest most of it, and maybe take a trip to Switzerland to visit family."

At least three other New Yorkers have one $1 million or more in the last month playing the lottery.
