Police complaints unanswered for 8 years because of forgotten password

NEW DELHI, March 6 (UPI) -- India's Central Vigilance Commission, an agency dedicated to fighting corruption, let eight years of complaints pile up in their system because of a forgotten password.

The system, which allows citizens to file complaints with the department, was rendered inaccessible after administrators of the system lost the password. New Delhi police recently gained access to the system and found complaints dating back to 2006.

Now two senior officers will be working to answer 667 complaints. They will be required to open an investigation into each case and there is no predicted date for completion. The department, however, says it's dedicated to "addressing all grievances."
