Toe-biting New Mexico shoe salesman with foot fetsih sentenced to prison

SANTA FE, N.M., March 4 (UPI) -- A former New Mexico shoe salesman was handed a 5 1/2-year prison sentence after he admitted he attacked his ex-girlfriend and bit off parts of her toes.

Daniel Anaya pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery against a household member, two counts of false imprisonment and one count of assault against a household member in order to avoid serving a maximum sentence of seven and a half years in prison.

The 28-year-old, who is said to have a foot fetish, agreed to the deal because of two incidents that took place in 2012 and 2013. During the first incident, Anaya allegedly threatened the victim with a box cutter, sucked her toes and then bit off a large piece of her toenail.

During the second encounter, Anaya held the victim down while he bit off the tip of her big left toe and “a portion of the bone.” Prosecutor Susan Stinson told the court that “the victim believes he ingested both items.”

While they were dating, the victim told police she allowed Anaya to cut her toenails with his teeth.

“I can appreciate that she is scared of you,” Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said in the courtroom. “I feel sorry for your family, but you are going to do prison time because I cannot be assured that you are going to leave (the victim) alone. “You may have been a good person for the majority of your life. But what I’m seeing is a very dangerous person.”
