SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- After four San Antonio students reported that they saw a fifth grade teacher drinking beer in her classroom, she chose to resign.

According to Northside Independent School District elementary spokesperson Pascual Gonzalez, one of the students at Kuentz Elementary took a photo of Cynthia Flores-Rodriguez having a beer and told the principal that the teacher reeked of booze.

Flores-Rodriguez had been at the school since 2008. She resigned on Valentine’s Day after being placed on administrative leave.

"Very concerning, yeah that would be a bad thing. Very bad," Kuentz Elementary parent Carlos Ramirez told Kens 5.

The 39-year-old teacher resigned before the investigation by the State Board for Educator Certification could be completed.

"It's sad if that's the actual case, its sad to hear that, but at the same time you're kind of glad the school district and the school is taking actions," said parent Valerie Alaniz.
