Police: Man stole theater's sound equipment for DJ gig

YAKUTSK, Russia, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Russia said a DJ stole $10,000 worth of sound equipment from a theater to use for a gig at a nightclub.

Investigators said the 23-year-old man, who worked at the theater in Yakutsk, stole $10,000 worth of equipment including microphones, monitors and a digital mixing board from the facility to use for a DJ gig at a local nightclub, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

The equipment was reported stolen by the theater's musical director, police said.

"Some of the equipment was found in the nightclub where the suspect was working; the rest he hid in a friend's apartment," police said in a statement.
