Russell Westbrook makes sandwiches at Subway after signing deal with company

Westbrook joins athletes like Justin Tuck, Michael Phelps and Robert Griffin III as part of the "SUBWAY Family."

WESTWOOD, Calif., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook celebrated becoming part of the Subway family by heading to one of the sandwich chain’s locations in California and making subs.

A video entitled “Russell Westbrook, a subway employee for the day,” has made its way onto the Internet.

“Oklahoma City Thunder superstar, Russell Westbrook announced his partnership with subway on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014. Russell a Southern California native and UCLA product celebrated by heading back to Westwood and serving customers and creating subs,” reads the posting with the video. “Along with subway spokes person Jared Fogle, the two provided free sandwiches for all in attendance. The first two guests that Westbrook serves are his parents.”

After the news about Westbrook becoming part of the “SUBWAY Famous Fan Family” broke on the web, other athletes who work with the brand like Justin Tuck, Robert Griffin III, Michael Phelps and others tweeted him their congratulations.
