Baby seal found stranded behind Norwegian marina

OSLO, Norway, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- A Norwegian woman walking her dog on a forest trail said she was surprised to find a young seal stranded among the trees behind a marina.

Susanna Jensen, 25,said she was walking her dog on the trail in Moss, south of Oslo, when she came upon the baby seal behind a local marina and discovered its path back to the water was blocked by a group of boats lining the shore, TheLocal.no reported Wednesday.

"It looked like it was happy to see me because it was coming towards me, but it also looked tired." Jensen said.  "It had probably been on land for a lot of time: in the end it climbed under a table, so it was probably quite cold." 

Jensen said she spent about an hour trying to guide the seal back to the sea, but she had to leave to prevent her dog from getting too cold.

Jensen said she told her father where to find the seal and he was able to carry the small animal back to the sea, where it swam away.

"The seal was OK once it got in the sea," Jensen said. "I'm hoping it's fine now and back with its family."
