Man spots his stolen car during cab ride

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Police in Saskatchewan said a man who spotted his stolen car during a cab ride had the taxi driver give chase and lead police to the car and suspects.

Saskatoon police said the man reported his car was stolen when he left it running and unlocked prior to 6:40 a.m. Sunday and he called a taxi cab to take him to work, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Monday.

However, during the ride to work the man spotted his car being driven and the cab driver gave chase. Police were summoned and took over the pursuit, which ended when the occupants of the stolen car abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police said a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman were arrested following a search of the area using tracker dogs.

The suspects face multiple charges, police said.
