Lion cubs make appearance at Spanish New Year's Eve party

SEVILLE, Spain, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- The son of Spanish actress and singer Isabel Pantoja made his New Year's Eve party a little more wild by bringing a pair of young lion cubs from a local zoo.

Kiko Rivera, 29, son of Pantoja and late bullfighter Francisco Rivera, threw a party Tuesday on the outskirts of Seville and the attendees included a pair of lion cubs loaned to Rivera by a local zoo, TheLocal.es reported Thursday.

Spanish news agency Efe said agents from the Civil Guard's environmental squad removed the animals from the party because party-goers did not have the proper permits for public display, but the El Mundo newspaper reported zoo sources as saying the lions had all of the proper paperwork and were allowed by the agents to remain at the celebration.
