PeepsFest features New Year's Eve Peep drop

BETHLEHEM, Pa., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Organizers of PeepFest in Pennsylvania said the celebration of the marshmallow treats will culminate in a New Year's Eve Peep drop.

The two-day event in Bethlehem, home of Peeps manufacturer Just Born since 1932, features Peeps-themed events including craft making, sculpting, a diorama contest, a Peeps disco and the New Year's Eve dropping of an 85-pound marshmallow Peeps chick, the Philadelphia Daily News reported Tuesday.

Peeps celebrated their 60th birthday this year and the anniversary was marked by a state Senate resolution co-sponsored by 22 senators to honor the company.
