The meeting occurred Dec. 8, the day of the Kennedy Center Honors, CNN said, noting Snoop Dogg was invited to participate in a tribute to jazz legend and honoree Herbie Hancock.

On the video Snoop can be heard telling Kerry, in reference to Hancock, "He invented hip-hop, that's why it only makes sense."

They then laugh and offer each other a fist-bump, with Kerry saying, "You gave me a good pound."

The Instagram video has received almost 24,000 likes, CNN said.
