A New Hampshire woman was arraigned on a second-degree assault charge and released after being held on $5,000 cash bail for allegedly stabbing her father in the chest during an argument about the constellations on Christmas Eve.

Upon arriving at a Londonderry home on Tuesday after receiving a 911 call reporting someone had been stabbed in the chest, officers located the victim, Robert Svenson, lying on the floor with a stab wound.

“As the officers made their way through the home, they found the father on the floor holding a homemade bandage to his chest,” Olson said.

After interviewing the victim and his wife, officers came to believe that Robert had been stabbed by his daughter, 22-year-old Nadja Svenson, after they got into an argument while looking at the night sky.

“After everything was sorted out and interviews were conducted, it was determined that the victim had gone out with his daughter to look at the constellations," Olson said. He indicated that they had an argument “over where the constellations were” and that things became heated.

Nadja indicated that the stabbing may have been accidental. “She said he accidentally ran into the knife,” Olson said.

Robert was taken to Parkland Medical Center in Derry and treated for his wound. A charge of second-degree assault is punishable by up to seven years in state prison and Nadja is due back in the 10th Circuit Court on Jan. 2.
