OTTAWA, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A Canadian poll indicates 92 percent of those outside Quebec and 59 percent of Quebecers think of late December as "Christmas" rather than the "holiday season."

The Angus Reid Global poll of 1,508 Canadian adults, conducted online Dec. 10, indicates only 8 percent of those in the English-speaking parts of Canada prefer the term "holiday season" to "Christmas," while 41 percent of those living in Quebec prefer the "holiday season."

Angus Reid said more than 90 percent of all Canadians polled said they planned to visit friends and family this month and plan a special Christmas dinner, but only 27 percent said they planned to attend a religious service.

The pollster said 83 percent of respondents said they believe Christmas has become too commercialized, while 13 percent said they feel the Christmas celebration is too religious.

The poll had an error margin of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
