The program, which began Oct. 27 and ends on Thanksgiving, encourages residents of Highland Park to deface windows at more than 25 businesses with messages, including "I am grateful to live in a peace loving community," and "I am grateful for my friends and family," The (Newark) Star-Ledger reported Monday. Advertisement "Many studies show, if you do something for 21 to 40 days, it becomes a habit," said Jacquelyn Juricic of the non-profit Who is My Neighbor?, one of the organizations sponsoring Gratitude Graffiti. "The thought is, if you actively express your gratitude, it may create a daily habit of being thankful," Juricic said. Similar projects are being held in other New Jersey cities, including Summit and Maplewood.
