Russian police: 'Old fridge' to blame for bomb scare

SAMARA, Russia, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Russian police said a suspicious object that led to a bomb squad investigation near a military facility turned out to be an old refrigerator.

Police said sniffer dogs and bomb squad officers were called to the city of Samara in the Volga region Thursday when an "unidentified suspicious object" was spotted near a military facility, RIA Novosti reported Friday.

"Experts examined the suspicious object and identified it as an old fridge that posed no danger," a police statement read.
