KEY WEST, Fla., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Authorities said a couple who received a package of marijuana at a Louisiana rental home drove the package back to Florida before discovering its contents.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the Florida Keys couple told deputies the package showed up at a rental home they own in Louisiana in July and their cleaning lady returned it to UPS, as it was not meant for them, WTVJ, Miami, reported Friday.

The couple said they discovered during a trip to check on several of their rental properties the package had again been delivered to the house. They opened the package and found it contained two blue suitcases, which they assumed was someone's lost luggage.

The pair said they decided to bring the suitcases back to Florida with them and attempt to track down the owners from home.

When they cut the locks off the suitcases, they found 11 pounds of marijuana.

Deputies said the couple turned the marijuana over to the sheriff's office, which plans to have the cannabis destroyed.
