BAL HARBOUR, Fla., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Organizers of a skinny-dipping event in Florida said 805 people shed their clothes and took a dip in the water to break a Guinness World Record.

Richard Mason, president of event sponsor South Florida Free Beaches Association, said the 805 people who swam in the buff Sunday at Haulover Beach in Bal Harbour broke the world record of 729 skinny-dippers set in July at El Playazo Beach in Spain, The Miami Herald reported Monday.

Mason said two counters and an independent supervisor were on hand to take a head count for the record, which is pending approval from Guinness.

Perry Silver, the event's supervisor and a director at the free beaches association, said he is preparing official paperwork as well as "video footage and high-quality color photographs" for Guinness officials.
