PPG: White the most popular color for 2013 cars

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries, the largest supplier of transportation coatings, said white was the most popular color in the world for 2013 model cars.

The company said white, which overtook silver for the top spot in 2011, was 3 percent more popular in 2013 than in 2012, with 25 percent of this year's cars painted the color, the Detroit Free Press reported Thursday.

PPG said its data found silver and black were tied for popularity in 2013, with 18 percent each, followed by gray, red and "natural hues."

White was also the most popular car color in the United States, followed by black, gray and silver.
