Man complete's Rubik's Cube during simulated free fall

BASINGSTOKE, England, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A British skydiver took 3 minutes, 16 seconds to become the first person to solve a Rubik's Cube puzzle in a freefall-simulating wind tunnel.

James Wilson, 35, a veteran of more than 1,600 skydiving jumps, solved the Rubik's Cube Tuesday in the wind tunnel at Airkix Indoor Skydiving in the Basingstoke Leisure Park in Basingstoke, England, ThisIsHampshire.net reported Thursday.

Simon Ward, chief executive at Airkix, said the feat is being recognized by Guinness World Records.

Wilson said he remained suspended in the air while completing the puzzle.

"It was pretty good. I have always been able to do the Rubik's Cube but not especially fast, and I had been practicing in the last few weeks," he said. "I managed to get it down to one minute but when you are in the wind tunnel it is a lot more difficult. You have to hold it carefully while you do it or it will fly out of your hands."

Wilson said he is considering an attempt to complete the challenge during an actual skydiving jump.
