MOSCOW, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Members of a Moscow group promoting healthy eating took to the city's transit system in flight attendant uniforms to hand out free salads to commuters.

The nonprofit group, The Truth About Food, said its "Stewardesses Go Underground" project Thursday involved women in flight attendant uniforms handing out salads on underground trains to encourage people to eat healthy breakfast foods, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

Sergei Raksha, an organizer with the group, said the project was aimed at steering people away from fatty breakfasts such as pancakes stuffed with meat and cheese.

"We're showing Muscovites that there's an alternative," Raksha said.
