MELBOURNE, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Authorities in Australia said a kangaroo was captured inside an airport pharmacy after being injured by a vehicle outside of the facility.

Melbourne Airport spokeswoman Anna Gillett said the kangaroo was injured by a vehicle outside Tuesday, wandered into the building and somehow made it to the second floor, where it was cornered in the pharmacy, The Age, Australia, reported Thursday.

Witnesses said police were on hand to monitor the situation and Wildlife Victoria volunteers wrangled the animal into a bag.

Gillette said the kangaroo entered the airport shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday and was taken away around 9:40 a.m.

The kangaroo will be examined by a veterinarian, Wildlife Canada said.

The Melbourne Herald Sun reported the airport previously had an encounter with a similar marsupial when a loose kangaroo was caught in the parking lot in January.
