WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- President Obama's mention of Microsoft's Xbox video-game console in an analogy about the government shutdown sparked a series of jokes on Twitter Tuesday.

During remarks on the debt ceiling and shutdown standoff with Congress, Obama said, "You don't get a chance to call your bank and say, 'I'm not going to pay my mortgage this month unless you throw in a new car and an Xbox.'"

"Obama just dropped an Xbox reference in a speech about the shutdown. Best thing to happen to Microsoft this year?" @robertashley tweeted.

"I'm guessing the Xbox reference was a hint for Malia and Sasha. Subtle. #ObamasXmasList" @jleinaweaver wrote, while @Guruith asked, "Obama just said Xbox, how does that make you feel Playstation?"
