BOISE, Idaho, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- An Idaho 7-year-old celebrated his birthday by dressing up as his favorite "Duck Dynasty" star and collecting shoes for foster children.
Richard Johnson, chief executive officer of non-profit Family Advocates, said a Boise boy identified as Nate dressed in costume as Uncle Sy from A&E TV series "Duck Dynasty" and used his parents' Facebook page to put out a call for show donations, KIVI-TV, Boise, reported Wednesday.
"He didn't want people to bring presents. He wanted them to bring shoes because he loved shoes and wanted to give shoes to kids in foster care," Johnson said.
Johnson said Nate collected 150 pairs of shoes.
"He thought of something he liked. I like shoes and knew other kids would like [shoes] and he thought about what those kids would want." Johnson said.
Johnson said the shoe donations are still coming in from people who see Nate's post on the Family Advocates Facebook page.
Nate said shoes for foster children were not the only things he received for his birthday.
"I did get a couple presents," he said.
