Police: Water department customer in Florida handed over crack cocaine

DELTONA, Fla., Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Police in Florida say the Deltona water office was evacuated when a customer handed a cashier an envelope with white powder that turned out to be crack cocaine.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said water department employees called deputies Monday morning to report an unidentified customer's envelope had been found to contain a suspicious white substance, the West Volusia Beacon, Deltona, reported Tuesday.

The building was evacuated while deputies and hazardous materials teams tested the powder, which turned out to be crack cocaine.

The investigation into the incident was ongoing, the sheriff's department said.
