Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe LAS VEGAS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Officials in Las Vegas say a new taco shop needs to change its name because it includes a word that can be translated into a vulgar Spanish slang term. Las Vegas City Councilman Bob Coffin said he does not want the Pinches Taco name displayed outside of the eatery, which is scheduled to open in November, because the word "pinches" is used as a slang version of a profane word for fornication that starts with "f," the Las Vegas Sun reported Tuesday. Advertisement "I hope Pinches Tacos has not bought their sign yet," said Coffin, who said he grew up speaking Spanish in Los Angeles. Javier Anaya, one of the brothers who founded the franchise in 2007, said the taco shop is named for their uncle, who their grandmother said was named Pinche and cooked for Pancho Villa during the Mexican Revolution. "I obviously don't think she lied to us," Anaya said. Pinches Tacos has four locations in California and one in Alabama. "We're not trying to do anything sneaky," Anaya said of the name. "Hopefully we can work this out."
