LA CORUNA, Spain, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Spanish authorities say someone who bought a lottery ticket that won a $6.3 million jackpot last year dropped it on the counter immediately after purchase.

The ticket was turned in by the man who found it, and officials are now trying to locate the buyer, TheLocal.es reported. The only person to come forward so far was making a false claim, police in Galicia say.

Few details have been released about the person being sought because officials want to discourage other cheats. They have said only that he or she was probably a regular at the store in La Coruna in northwestern Spain where the ticket was bought.

The ticket, with the numbers 10, 17, 24, 37, 40 and 43, was bought for the drawing on June 30, 2012, and won the 4.7 million euro ($6.3 million) jackpot.

If no genuine claimant comes forward within two years, the finder, identified by the newspaper La Voz de Galicia as Manuel Reija Gonzalez, will get the prize.
