NASHVILLE, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A man who robbed a Nashville market 11 years ago dropped off an apology letter and paid back the stolen money, the owners said.

"It's amazing," Somboon Wu, owner of the Interasian Market and Deli, said. "It's inspirational, really. Even though it's hard sometimes, we need to give people a second chance."

The man dropped off a handwritten letter in which he claimed to be a drug addict who robbed the store of beer and $300 11 years ago.

"I do not use drugs anymore, and I feel I must make amends to the people I have hurt in the past," the man wrote.

Enclosed in the letter was $400, WSMV-TV, Nashville, reported.

"We just want to let him know if he's watching, wherever life takes you, we forgive you for what you did," said Wu.
