Green Shoe Studio in East Peoria, Ill., held a contest during the summer for singer-songwriters to post videos of their songs to the studio's website, but non-singer and non-Internet user Fred Stobaugh of Peoria instead mailed the handwritten lyrics for his song to the studio in a manila envelope, the Peoria Journal-Star reported Friday. Advertisement Stobaugh's song, a tribute to Lorraine, his wife of 73 years who died in April, made such an impression on Green Shoe Studio producer Jacob Colgan that he decided to record the song and create a mini documentary about its creation. "There's no question in my mind that she was the love of his life," Colgan said. "He didn't care if he won or not, he just wanted people to hear about his love for Lorraine." The video has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube and more than 740,000 times on Vimeo.
