LOVELAND, Colo., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Police in Colorado said they arrested an alleged jewelry store burglar who abandoned his pants and phone behind a convenience store.

The Loveland Police Department said two men allegedly broke into the Jared Jewelry store in Loveland around 2:46 a.m. Saturday and officers responding to the burglar alarm spotted a man disappearing behind a nearby 7-Eleven store, The Denver Post reported Monday.

Police discovered a pair of pants, a cellphone and a pile of high-end watches behind the convenience store. Officers said they then spotted a wet, muddy man who matched a picture on the phone.

Angel Viera-Hernandez was arrested on charges including burglary and theft. The number for the phone discovered by police matched the number the Florida man had given Loveland officers during a shoplifting arrest two days earlier.

Police said they recovered 69 high-end watches, worth a total of about $200,000, allegedly taken during the burglary.
