Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe FORT WAYNE, Ind., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Police in Indiana said a 40-year-old man on a stolen moped led officers on a low-speed chase around the city of Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne Police spokesman Sgt. Mark Brooks said Lagrant Smith, 40, was stopped around 10:15 p.m. Friday for riding the wrong way on a one way street, but he refused to turn off the moped's engine and soon rode away, The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reported Monday. Advertisement Brooks said Smith led police on an hour-long chase that reached top speeds of 25 mph. "He was just driving around," Brooks said. Smith got off the moped about 11:15 p.m. and fled on foot, but was quickly subdued by a stun gun and arrested. The moped was found to be stolen and Smith allegedly side-swiped two cars during the chase, police said. Smith was charged with receiving stolen property, criminal recklessness, marijuana possession, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of resisting law enforcement. He was taken to jail in lieu of $8,250 bail.
