More than 3,000 people voted in the survey posted by the website Crap Towns Returns and Hemel garnered 785 votes, about 200 more than the next closest crap town, Luton, which received 592 votes. Rounding out the top tier were Slough (352) Bracknell (338) and Birmingham (312), The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday. Advertisement Sam Jordinson of Crap Towns Returns said he was hardly shocked when Hemel earned the dubious honor. "I know exactly why Hemel did so well in the poll. I've been there once. And once was more than enough," Jordinson said. "Although I am surprised that Coventry didn't do better: worse, following the number of people writing in to say it looked better just after it was bombed than it does now." The first edition of "Crap Towns" was published to great outrage in 2003 with residents from those towns dubbed the crappiest expressing displeasure and even some members of Parliament condemning it while scoring some points sticking up for their constituencies. Jordinson joked "Crap Towns Returns" is back -- by unpopular demand. Advertisement
