Female Detroit police officers' bra sizes mistakenly emailed

DETROIT, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Female police officers in Detroit are filing grievances after their heights, weights and bra cup sizes were circulated following body armor purchases.

Detroit police obtained body armor, including bulletproof vests specially contoured for women's figures. Cmdr. Dwayne Love sent an email to officers when the armor arrived, three weeks ago, inadvertently attaching an Excel spreadsheet that included the information on the female officers, WJBK-TV, Detroit, reported Tuesday.

"On the third page [of the spreadsheet] the females were listed. Unfortunately and embarrassingly, the cup sizes of the females were listed on that third page, and it was really just a clerical error," Assistant Chief James White said.

Several female officers said they faced ridicule from fellow officers, and are filing grievances through their union and a complaint to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, WJBK-TV said.

White said he intends to meet with the female officers to apologize.
