Lawyer agrees to suspension for prostitution

SYCAMORE, Ill., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- An Illinois lawyer who pleaded guilty to prostitution and had sex in exchange for office supplies agreed to a suspension of her law license, authorities said.

The Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission said Reema Bajaj, 27, who obtained her law license in 2010, has agreed to the three-year suspension, which is expected to be approved by a disciplinary board panel later this month before going to the Illinois Supreme Court for final approval, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.

The commission said Bajaj posted online ads using the name Nikita and traded sex for money, DVDs, gift cards and office supplies for her Sycamore, Ill., law practice.

Bajaj pleaded guilty in 2012 to a misdemeanor count of prostitution. She was sentenced to 50 hours of community service, which she completed in part by performing free legal work, and $2,500 in fines.

The ARDC complaint accuses Bajaj of criminal conduct and making false statements in a disciplinary case and on her bar application by failing to disclose her prostitution work.
