The car belongs to the restaurant's owner, DeAnna Staats, police said.
Investigators said they used the car's OnStar system to track it to the Van Nuys area, where it was found parked in Panorama City, near an American Legion post.
Officers staked out the car and saw Dylan Coffey, 20, approach the vehicle.
"Something spooked him and he went into the [post] where detectives entered," Lt. Paul Vernon said.
He said Coffey ran out of the building, jumped a fence and ran to a residential area where he allegedly broke into a home, dressed in the homeowner's clothes and hid beneath a pile of wood, police said.
Coffey was arrested on suspicion of burglary and police said they expected to charge him with the theft of the car.
