GAHANNA, Ohio, July 23 (UPI) -- An Ohio woman accused of issuing state ID cards and driver's licenses to illegal immigrants was sentenced to spend five Christmases in jail.

Betina Young, 44, who prosecutors said used her position at the deputy registrar's office in Gahanna to falsify records for illegal immigrants who paid her a fee, pleaded guilty in May to five counts of tampering with records and was sentenced Monday to spend at least three days in jail each Christmas for the duration of her five-year probation, The Columbus Dispatch reported Tuesday.

Judge Michael Holbrook also ordered Young to pay a $3,000 fine. If she fails to abide by the terms of her probation she will face 15 years in jail, Holbrook said.

The exact number of days Young will spend in jail during her Christmas visits will be determined in consultation with the probation department, Holbrook said.
