NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) -- New York police said they busted 11 alleged gang members after a plot to rob other gangs fell apart because of faulty planning.

Investigators said the "6 Wild" gang sent young female members to befriend other gangs and discover where they would be hiding drugs and cash, the New York Post reported Friday.

New York Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan said the girls brought back some faulty information and gang members mistakenly beat and held guns to the heads of civilians on at least three occasions in February 2012.

The ensuing investigation, which uncovered pictures of gang members with stolen goods on Facebook, resulted in the arrests of 11 alleged 6 Wild members, ages 19 to 24.

Brennan said the gang was known for its members using designer handbags to carry off stolen cash, drugs and goods.

"They swore allegiance to only one thing -- the Gucci bags full of cash that they collected from committing their crimes," Brennan said.

Brennan said the charges against the group include conspiracy, robbery, burglary, assault, menacing, strangulation and drug possession.
