TORONTO, June 12 (UPI) -- Police in Ontario said a suspect fleeing on a motorcycle collided with an SUV, then stole that vehicle and drove off with the motorcycle pinned underneath.

York Regional Police said they responded to a Richmond Hill strip mall before dawn Wednesday when a burglar alarm was triggered and the suspect attempted to flee on a motorcycle, but soon collided with a sport utility vehicle, The (Toronto) Globe and Mail reported Wednesday.

The suspect then carjacked the SUV and sped away with the motorcycle still pinned beneath the vehicle, police said.

The suspect was forced to stop the high-speed chase and flee on foot when flames from the motorcycle threatened to engulf the Lexus SUV, investigators said.

Police said the suspect was tracked down by police dogs and arrested.

Constable Blair McQuillan said the suspect, whose name was not released, is 20 years old and lists a Toronto address.
